Introduction

Our website, which can be found at the following URL: www.ericwhitehead.co.uk, is a significant marketing tool and therefore its content is very important and must be carefully monitored to protect our reputation.

Purpose

This policy aims to inform us of the scope of permitted and prohibited website content and who to contact to request changes to our website. Lexcel accredited firms are also required to have an email policy.

Scope

This policy applies to us all, including managers, consultants and any third-party that this policy has been communicated to.

Responsibility

Nicola Robinson is responsible for this policy.

Our website is managed and operated by So Marketing. All contributions, amendments and graphics are created either inhouse by us or by So Marketing.

All of us (and any third-party to whom this policy applies) are responsible for ensuring that we comply with it. Failure to do so may result in disciplinary action.

Permitted and prohibited content

Our website content must meet the following requirements:

  • It must be up to date;
  • It must promote and market the firm generally as a leading provider of legal advice;
  • It must reflect our brand values;
  • It must specify conditions for downloading material;
  • It must comply with current data protection legislation, include a privacy notice or policy which explains how any data collected from visitors will be managed by us, a cookie policy and website terms and conditions.
  • It must comply with the Equality Act 2010. and The Equality Act 2010 (Amendment) Regulations 2023 (Amendment Regulations);
  • It must comply with the SRA Standards and Regulations and Transparency Rules, particularly those relating to costs and service, complaints and publicity. This includes confirming that the firm is authorised and regulated by the SRA and displaying the firm’s SRA number and the SRA digital badge/clickable logo in a prominent place. Our website must also include details of the firm’s complaints handling procedure (including how and when complaints can be made to the LeO and the SRA);
  • It must not breach client confidentiality;
  • It must not infringe copyright or other intellectual property rights;
  • It must not cause professional embarrassment for us; and

 Content approval, publishing and removal

All proposed website content must be approved by Nicola Robinson All requests for content approval must be sent in writing.

Similarly, any content to be removed from our website must also be approved by Nicola Robinson.

All website content will be published So Marketing. No one else is permitted to publish website content.

Website security

The Directors and the website developers are the only parties who have access to our website. Passwords are complex and are changed regularly.

Files will only be uploaded to the site by So Marketing and are checked before being uploaded.

Our usual internet and network security measures apply to our website. Please refer to our Information Management and Security Policy for more details.

Links to third party websites

We will only link our website with another organisation’s website with authority from Nicola Robinson.

The inclusion of such links does not imply endorsement by us of any content contained on the sites accessible via those links and should be considered for information purposes only.

Enquiries will be made into the organisation’s organisational and technical measures to ensure information security before any decision to link our website is made.

We are not responsible for the content of such third-party websites and exclude all liability for loss and/or damage that may be incurred by you as a result of your access and/ or use of such content.

Applicable law and jurisdiction

Our website specifies that the jurisdiction and applicable law to be invoked is that of England and Wales in the event of any dispute arising as a result of content posted on our website.

Review of this policy

This policy will be reviewed at least annually by Nicola Robinson.
